Can Collaborative Divorce be done on Zoom?

In the day of remote meetings, we’re often asked if collaborative divorce can be done via Zoom.

The short answer is, yes! The entire collaborative divorce process, from start to finish can be conducted via teleconferencing software. I recommend the use of Zoom as a HIPAA complaint platform, just for the sake of privacy.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, lots of the legal system, including Collaborative divorce had to move online. Honestly, that's something that most of us were pretty hesitant to do. However, now on the other side, we have really found it to be quite functional. One of the many benefits is that you can do it from anywhere and you can hire a professional really from anywhere so long as they are familiar with your state laws and the requirements of your state.

Another benefit to meeting remotely is that you can do that from a place where you feel uncomfortable. You can do your collaborative divorce sessions in your own home and you don't have to make a whole big production of being gone for a whole afternoon or a whole morning to be at a two hour meeting.

Another one of the benefits is that the professionals typically charge for travel time. With the online version or the remote version of collaborative divorce, you are cutting down on the cost of travel for the professionals. Really in short, I find that the remote version is absolutely as productive as in person. And it really just depends upon the preferences of the clients.
